OWNER: FRANCIS G. TRESHAM VEHICLE: TUO 492 - 1956 BRISTOL LS5G CHASSIS NUMBER: 111051 BODY: ECW B45F BODY NUMBER: 8165 |
TUO 492 was new to Southern National in January 1956 to their Bridgewater Depot as number 1776. It was re-seated to B41F in 1964. TUO 492 was transferred to Western National upon the absorption of the Southern National fleet in November 1969. On withdrawal by Western National TUO 492 passed to Mendip Preserving, a fruit farming company, and then on to Bridgewater Majorettes. It was purchased from the Majorettes by its current owner, ex-Bristol Commercial Vehicles Research Engineer Francis G.Tresham. TUO 492 is currently non-operational, but is 98% complete, and with a little work could take to the road again as one of the few surviving examples of this 1950's Bristol product.
The photograph shows TUO 492 at work with Western National at Yeovil on March 7th 1970. The copyright of this photograph is attributed to Mike Penn.
My thanks go to Francis G.Tresham for providing the information, and to Mike Penn for additional information and the photograph.
